Leona Tenebruso-Shultes - Biography and Artist's Statement

As a native New Yorker, who has lived in central New Jersey for many years, I draw inspiration from the energy and sophistication of the city, and from the beauty and colors of the shore. I am an active member of the Monmouth County, New Jersey, creative community since 2002, painting lyrical abstracts in acrylic and on occasion in oil. My work is known primarily for its varied textures and vibrant colors. In the past year I've begun incorporating elements of collage into the paintings.

I am an associate member of the Guild of Creative Art, in Shrewsbury, NJ, and an exhibiting artist of the Guild's Lyrical Abstract Expressionism Painting Workshop. I am also a member of the Art Alliance of Monmouth County. My paintings have been featured in juried shows in 2006, 2007, and 2008, sponsored by these organizations.

Early in my career I studied at the Art Students League, and at the Parsons School of Design, in New York City. My professional background includes interior design work for Visual Impact, in NJ, where I also represented original art and fine art reproductions.
