We have been designing and making hand built furniture in our Vincentown, NJ location since 1996. Our workshop occupies a converted barn on our farmstead "Bifocal Farm". Prior to that, starting in 1980 the shop was in Jacksonville, NJ. William Robbins has also worked as an apprentice and journeyman in West Virginia and Tennessee. All of William Robbins' furniture designs skillfully combine how they will respond to the human body with the desire to create something beautiful. Our furniture must always function comfortably while filling a place in the room with artistic presence. The workshop utilizes the finest wood we can acquire, primarily hardwood native to North America. Because of the way we manipulate our surfaces by folding and bending, the use of selected veneers is often appropriate. The joinery chosen for use in any design is intended to provide unlimited longevity. Nothing inspires our craftsmen better than the challenge to create an originally conceived design that is truly beautiful and technically proficient to the highest standard. |
